We’re looking for a Yard Operative/ Grab driver to join our Bury Site as we continue to expand our business across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be required to serve trade customers and members of the public wishing to sell their scrap metal.   
You will grade the metals and enter weights onto our weighbridge system via a tablet.
When required, you will operate a 360 material handler with grab attachment to receive and sort ferrous metal loads.
You will be responsible for loading baled and/or loose ferrous scrap into artic bulker trailers ensuring safe operation of the machine, maximum weights and efficient turnaround.
Operate plant and equipment
Follow safe systems of work at all times
To work with and to adopt all H and S procedures that are in force.
To liaise with the Site Manager on a daily basis to determine work loads for the day.



To inform management immediately of any defects that may cause any item of equipment to be either unsafe or unroadworthy.
To keep the yard clean and tidy and free from hazards.
Ensure good housekeeping and keep the stock in an organised manner.
Supervise the regular daily checks required on the equipment and carry out the regular maintenance procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the equipment.
Any other duties as directed by the Site Manager/ Operations Director

Experience of operating a long reach 360 material handler with a 5 time grab
Scrap metal knowledge and experience
Experience of non- ferrous buying, cropping, baling and burning (desirable).
Health and Safety qualifications (desirable)
Experience of operating a forklift truck (desirable)
