Virgin Trains is recruiting a Timetable Delivery Manager to lead the team responsible for the delivery of Short-Term Planning timetables and to co-ordinate (internally and externally) our delivery of engineering work timetables and operations.
This is a new role, and an important one, reflecting a need to strengthen our delivery in this area for the benefit of our customers and stakeholders, against a backdrop of continued railway renewal and enhancement. It will offer you the chance to develop your leadership and management skills and build relationships with our industry partners.
Our Train Planning team is based in Birmingham and are at the heart of Virgin Trains. They are responsible for producing our timetable and planning our response to engineering work. Train Planning mostly happens 'behind the scenes', but it is essential to ensure that Virgin Trains remains one of the most successful and customer-focused railway companies in the UK.
Ideal candidates will have previous leadership, line management, and rail industry planning experience and a desire to be part of the Virgin Trains team. You will be an excellent co-ordinator and communicator able to bring people and teams together, and you will need to remain calm under pressure, as you will be leading a team who require to meet demanding deadlines with work of the highest quality. You will also have excellent knowledge of train planning processes, UK rail geography, and operational planning and office IT systems (including Voyager Plan and Microsoft Office).
