Transport for London (TfL) is responsible for the management of more than 23,000 street trees, 800,000m2 of woodland, 2,000,000m2 of grass and hundreds of miles of trackside trees and vegetation. The Green Infrastructure (GI) Team is based in the TfL Engineering Directorate and provides support and advice to all parts of the organisation about GI issues, as well as working closely with external stakeholders in the arboriculture, horticulture and environment industries. This GI support is a critical part of ensuring that TfL meets its policy objectives as set out in the Mayor’s Transport Strategy.

TfL is currently looking for a Senior Arboriculture & Landscape Specialist to join our established team. A technical expert in your field, you will be required to develop and contribute to procedures and policies relating to GI, support colleagues across TfL in a wide variety of challenges and projects, audit tree surveys and advise on planting programmes. You will be comfortable liaising with industry stakeholders, the general public and TfL colleagues and be prepared to work collaboratively to achieve the goals of the organisation.

You will be a Professional Member of the Arboricultural Association or Institute of Chartered Foresters and will have excellent arboricultural knowledge as well as a good understanding of horticulture and the environment. Qualified to degree level in an appropriate subject, you will have a strong understanding of best industry practice, legislation and relevant regulations and guidance. You will be expected to represent the GI Team internally and TfL externally and to be committed to your own continuous professional development.

You’ll be joining a dynamic team covering a wide range of engineering and technical disciplines; the more teams and projects you have participated in, and led, the better. You must have a passion for trees and landscape for improving the urban environment because at TfL you would be responsible for contributing to a healthier, greener city.
