Job Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to ensure smooth running of all site operations whilst the site manager is vacant. You will be responsible for the office administration along with the general running of the yard, whilst dealing with customer enquiries on a day to day basis.

Alongside the office admin you will also be required to assist the team with the site operations when needed. This will include dismantling of ELV’s and the processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

This role is extremely varied and will give someone a great opportunity to develop their skills in the recycling industry whilst offering you a wide range of experience.


Dealing with internal and external email/phone requests
Ensure that all policies and procedures are followed
To provide a high level of customer service
Request and process all documentation from customers, references and annex VII’s
Weighbridge admin, updating spreadsheets and data entry
Cash handling and processing payments
Face to face, email and telephone communication with customers
Ensuring continuous compliance for all site operations
To train and carry out all safety inductions to staff and any external visitors
To enforce all health and safety procedures are followed
Efficient stock control
Transport planning
Ensure the site training records for EHS, including the safe systems of work are up to date, accurate and available for all members of staff
To liaise with the RL transport team to book collections
Maintain drivers’ files, manage tach card records and provide information required to the RL transport team
General site updates, reporting of performance and escalation concerns
Report and update site KPI’s to management
Accurate data entry using excel spreadsheets or on internal IT software’s
Assisting with the dismantling of ELV’s when required
Assisting with the purchasing and processing of metals
General housekeeping and accordance to EA standards
Willing to train and develop

Person Specification

High attention to detail
Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office Software’s
Customer service experience
Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills
Ability to communicate with a wide range of people such as staff, directors and customers
Willing to be flexible with working hours
A great team player
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Be able to prioritise responsibilities effectively

Office experience is essential
Weighbridge experience preferred but not essential

Skills, Knowledge and Experience


Previous experience within the Recycling Sector
Previous yard experience
FLT Driver License


Equivalent 3 GCSE A-C (including Maths and English)
Efficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
High attention to detail and the ability to work accurately
Previous experience in an administrative role
Excellent communication skills
Well organised and structured approach to work
