London Underground is one of the world’s most famous metro systems and is responsible for more than 3.5 million passenger journeys a day. It has 11 lines covering 402km and serving 270 stations. During peak hours, more than 500 trains are in operation. 

We have a great opportunity for a Plant Maintenance Fitter with a Mechanical bias to Install, maintain and repair plant equipment and facilities requirements.
 
Key Accountabilities:
 
Perform Statutory and Preventative Maintenance on relevant Plant and Equipment.
Diagnose faults on all types of either mechanical or electrical plant equipment.
Repair, recondition and service all types of either mechanical or electrical static and mobile plant and equipment within the workshops or outlaying sites on days or nights and pass as fit for purposes
Sign off certification for maintained / repaired equipment and complete al paper work and reports as required.
Manufacture replacement parts as required so that necessary repairs may be initiated.
Mechanically Install new static plant and equipment in accordance with design specifications and contribute to design of installations with colleagues.
Use portable plant and power tools correctly.
Work safely at heights.
Work safely in confined spaces.
Manufacture components using workshop machines.
Assist all other staff in production or work there as required.
 
Safety Accountabilities:
 
Ensure that all activities and changes to equipment or process comply with all relevant safety and legal requirements.
Ensure that the planning of testing and trial activities includes the identification of appropriate risks and standards.
 
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
 
All of the below are essential unless stated desirable
Must have served an appropriate Mechanical Apprenticeship and be able to work from manufacturers specifications or drawings. Possess good fault diagnostic skills especially on all types of machines.
The ability to read, understand and comply with O & M manuals, engineering standards.
Ability to fault find, maintain and install all standard Industrial utilities.
The ability to set up, operate and maintain all test and production equipment on site.
The ability to carry out minor building repairs, E & M service repairs.
The ability to operate a range of workshop machines.
The ability to familiarise other employees in job and production requirements.
Ability to use correct PPP for range of activities.
The ability to carry out general housekeeping without direction.
Possess a through knowledge and understanding of rules and regulations relating to the job and ability to execute them.
The ability to comprehend London Underground practices on smoking, alcohol, drugs and attendance to duty and must comply with them.
The ability to communicate effectively with manager, other members of staff and customers.
Be physically fit and reach London Underground medical standards of fitness as appropriate to the job.
The ability to undertake Production duties as required.
