Interserve has a large hardware IT asset pool, covering all the typical Configuration Item’s (CI) Laptop, Desktop, Mobile, Tablets, Servers, Switch’s etc.
The role will support the management of these assets and its association to the asset owners.
The role will be responsible for maintaining the CI’s as part of a wider Configuration Management Database (CMDB). A key responsibility will be strengthening the accuracy of the CI’s and will be required to audit and validate usage in line with Interserve policy and processes. The role will work closely with Procurement, Service Towers and Business Partners to run a joint team to develop and implement and maintain the CMDB.
Harvesting and redistribution of assets is critical to maintaining service to the customers whilst considering asset management life-cycle principle in line with ITAM. The role will be expected to help mature the processes and polices and play an active role in continuous service improvement when support by IT assets.
The role is the custodian and guardian of all master copies of hardware assets and documentation CIs registered with asset and configuration management.
Proposes and agrees with the Asset and Configuration Manager CIs to be uniquely identified with naming conventions; ensures that developers and configuration system users comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates
Liaises with the IT Asset Manager on population of the CMDB in line with polices and processes
Uses the CMDB to facilitate impact assessment for RFCs and to ensure that implemented changes are as authorised
Performs configuration audits to check that the physical IT inventory is consistent with the CMDB and associated CI’s and initiates any necessary corrective action
Creates and populates the asset registers, both controlled by IT and divisional P&L for depreciation
Control the receipt, identification, storage, and withdrawal of all supported Cis
Provide information on the status of Cis
Number, record, store and distribute asset and configuration management issues
Creating, searching for, and modifying CI records.
Adding additional details, and relating other items to the CI records.
Assigning a person or group to a CI.
Performing bulk updates.
Creating maintenance or audit schedules for CIs.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Knowledge, skills & experience
Qualified or Strong Experience using Service Delivery methodologies to support Asset Management (ITIL etc).
Familiar with; IT Asset Management Principles (ITAM)
Extensive experience in a similar role
Ability to Create and Implement Process’s to support delivery of the responsibilities
Ability to manage customer expectations and any issues that may arise.
Experience of senior stakeholder management
Relevant ITIL qualifications beyond ‘Foundation’ level (not essential)
Relevant IT qualifications in line with role (ITAM)
Driven to measure, analyse and optimise development processes and systems
Ability to work openly and collaboratively at all levels to maximise overall organisational health
Able to embrace and drive change
Be innovative in approach and look for opportunities to improve processes
Experience of setting and achieving targets and producing work of high quality to agreed deadlines and budgets.
