To take the lead electrical engineering role within an M&E Department of a major contractor delivering projects predominately within various sectors of the industry;
This will be a challenging role to manage the electrical requirements, including management of electrical site operatives, design deliverables, sub-contract management and quality of installations, including inspections and testing;
The engineer will be fundamental in the highest level of quality;
Customer satisfaction will be foremost in their delivery plans.
To comply with the company process document;
Technically vet all procurement packages;
Co-ordinate the services for their proper integration into the building and liaise with other disciplines;
Oversee the production of all drawings, including plant and sub-contract layouts to ensure co-ordination;
Provide support to the project surveyor on commercial matters;
Undertake and manage all labour/direct material matters;
Undertake a regular audit of the Productivity Scheme and ensure the same is completed with the Foreman/Site Manager;
Issue labour targets ahead of the work activity on site;
Regularly progress the site production reports on site with Foreman/Site Manager;
Maintain accurate records of labour and material elements used in the pre-fabricated sections of the project;
Manage technical and progress issues relating to plant and sub-contractor elements using technical submission process;
Provide support to the Site Manager on any installation matters;
Maintain Procurement Schedules, Technical Submissions, Drawing Registers;
Alongside the Site Manager carry out regular sub-contract project reviews to plan, progress and monitor installations;
Support the Project Manager in all matters relating to the project;
Provide support to the Site Management team on any installation matters;
Carry out regular sub-contract Project Reviews to plan, progress and monitor installations;
Organisation and allocation of electrical install team to cover single and multi-site projects;
Site surveys and production of materials list in accordance with design;
Design of electrical installations;
Interpretation of electrical drawings and schematics in relation to the installation of the project;
Procurement of electrical materials and submissions for plant hire;
Cost management of electrical materials in accordance with project budget;
Planning the installation works with install team to cover single and multi-site projects;
Technically vet all procurement packages;
Implementation of company Health & Safety procedures;
Production of Risk Assessments and Method Statements as required;
Production of electrical installation and testing progress reports;
Installation of electrical equipment and plant in accordance with BS7671;
Inspections and Testing of electrical equipment and plant in accordance with BS7671;
Production of electrical test documentation in accordance with BS7671;
Signing of electrical completion certificates as required in accordance with BS7671;
Any other duties as required by line management where skills, knowledge and capabilities maybe utilised to the benefit of the team;
Represent the company on any internal and external issues.
Preparation and production of external and internal documents (using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel);
AutoCAD/REVIT familiarity (not critical);
Familiar with industry standard calculation programmes, e.g design software (Amtec, Dialux & Relux);
Preferably HNC qualified / JIB Approved Electrician (apprenticeship);
BS7671 17th Edition Certificate;
C&G2391 Inspection & Testing Certificate;
CSCS / ECS Supervisors or Managers Card;
5 Day Site Managers Safety CITB Certificate (desirable but will train);
Minimum 5 years job role experience with multi-million pound project experience;
Sound technical knowledge of electrical building services;
An aptitude and interest in team management and mentoring;
An interest in business development;
A team player with good organisational skills and proven success;
Excellent communications skills, verbal and written;
Disciplined and consistent approach to work;
Able to see tasks through to completion and able to prioritise and multi-task in an efficient manner;
Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills;
Able to work independently with minimum supervision;
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges;
Flexible in approach to work and its demands.
The position may involve working away if required;
Full driving license (desirable).
