London Underground is one of the world’s most famous metro systems and is responsible for more than 3.5 million passenger journeys a day. It has 11 lines covering 402km and serving 270 stations. During peak hours, more than 500 trains are in operation. 

 

Role
 

We have an exciting opportunity within Asset Operations for a Communications Engineer to assist with Document Control on Project handover, Assurance, Minor Works, additional Works & Key Performance Indicators.

 

You will ensure Comms assets meet all required regulatory, statutory and engineering standards, and perform to the correct and safe design output.

 

You will also be responsible for the annual Asset Condition Reports (ACR) for Comms assets, and the creation / review / update of associated work banks.
 

 Key accountabilities

 

Assurance of Comms assets brought / bringing into service via all projects.
Prepare and Manage systems for all control documentation processes.
Integration of working practices i.e.. Ellipse.
Encourage the development of new initiatives and working practices. Maintain good personal relationships with the key accountable representatives of the internal and external supply chain.
Supporting core asset information (CAI) 
Assurance for the Station Systems Asset Performance function:
Design  

Asset / system conformity

Document Control 

Quality / Management Control

Auditing of Suppliers & Assets

   
Skills, Knowledge & Experience 
 

Skills

 

HND equivalent in an appropriate discipline desirable.
Proven Major achievements in change and operations management
Highly developed negotiating skills.
Management experience significant and demonstrated experience in managing people, external suppliers, projects and performance at tactical and strategic levels.
Holds a recognized safety qualification such as NEBOSH “General Certificate” or similar qualification [desirable]
Proven industry experience/qualification of one of the asset fields to be managed [desirable] 
Must hold a full UK Driving Licence and prepared to drive company transport when required, or have access to a driver.
Familiar with PMF (project management framework
 

Knowledge

 

Detailed knowledge of Comms asset maintenance and inspection techniques. [Essential] 
Telecoms knowledge and Project liaison/interface and handover [essential]
HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, or actively working towards. [Essential]
A formal safety qualification such as NEBOSH General Certificate in Safety or relevant proven experience. [Essential]
Detailed knowledge of current Construction and Engineering standards and industry practices relevant to the assets managed. [Essential]
 
Experience

 

Experience within the London Underground or other Railway Environments. [Preferable]
The management of large budgets to meet and surpass defined parameters and performance targets. [Essential]
Experience in managing performance based Facilities Management contracts and suppliers. [Preferable]
