An opportunity exists for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Highways team supporting Scottish Trunk Road works at Amey
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team providing design and delivery of major road works services to the Scottish Trunk Roads. Covering more than 550 miles of road this large contract covers both the Edinburgh city bypass and a stretch of the M8; as well as key design and delivery of planned works Amey also provide inspections to maintain safety, winter maintenance works, and repair of motorway lighting and traffic signals as required across the region.
Working in a small team of 4, as a Commercial Manager supporting these works typical responsibilities will include cost/value reporting, assisting with expected Turnover/Profit forecasts, dealing with customer financial queries, assisting with monthly payment applications, and assisting with the procurement /enrolment of new sub-contract appointments.
You also will be responsible for assisting with the management of subcontractor liabilities and payments for these works, currently valued at £15million per year. Additionally there may also be an involvement with the tendering for the next phase of this project.
What are we looking for?
This role would therefore suit an experienced and methodical Commercial Manager with solid background in either quantity surveying or estimating. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail and be confident in managing subcontractor payments. You should also have the ability to form meaningful professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and parties. Previous experience working in the Highways industry would be extremely beneficial, however a background in civil engineering, building or construction will also be considered.
