This is a varied role working within Citizen's services, as an apprentice you'll have the opportunity to rotate in different teams. The role will involve providing business administration support to the team, this will include managing records, dealing with queries, making appointments, sending forms and filing.

The Citizen Service Centre (CSC) and Citizen Service Point (CSP) provide comprehensive customer advice, support and enquiry resolution in relation to complex services handled by the for example Local Taxation or Benefits services.

The Translation and Interpreting Team was established to provide a range of interpreting and translation service to its Citizens in Bristol and surrounding Cities largely in the South who are unable to communicate in English or who are hard of hearing. Our language interpreters are employed with Bristol City Council as casual employees and our BSL (British Sign Language) interpreters are freelance.

What the team does: As the first point of contact for Bristol City Council's Citizens, our Advisors ensure our citizens receive a professional, positive, customer-focused experience.

As an apprentice, you will be providing administrative support to various teams within Citizen Services, such as

Translation and Interpreting
Performance and Customer Engagement and Administration
You will have the opportunity to rotate between the teams.

Duties will include:
Use software packages, including Microsoft Office applications including the following: email (Outlook), word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel) using the internet (internet Explorer)
Update records to our system and make changes to details as and when required
Receive and relay messages from visitors and telephone callers
Make appointments for yourself and others
Respond to routine correspondence via email or letter
Collect and distribute documents and mail
Maintain and update information and records
Assist with timesheet sign off requests and discuss problematic queries
Send monitoring form to customers, record customer feedback on systems and send to interpreter
Assist with responding to non-complex interpreting queries
Filing and retrieving information
This role will combine practical training in the job with study towards a Business Administration qualification, assessed in the workplace by your training provider. As part of your apprenticeship you will need to gather work based evidence, whilst working alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills as well as an understanding about the world of employment. All assessments and teaching will take place either on the job or during your studies.
