Assistant Engineer (Land Survey)

Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join us as a Land Surveyor in our Central Engineering team and, as well as surveying legacy assets, you’ll support the delivery of new & upgraded infrastructure. There’s more to it than tubes, roads, buildings and bridges. This is about connecting communities and creating opportunities, so we’re ready for the 21st century and beyond.

Day-to-day, you will provide survey solutions within your field of expertise, as well as assisting with the production of surveys, models, drawings, calculations and ongoing continuous improvement of assets knowledge to ensure a reliable and safe experience for customers.

You will have a good understanding of Land Survey, using the latest survey equipment, technology and software to undertake measured surveys to support TfL projects. The work is varied – including control, scanning, monitoring, setting out and mobile clearance scanning. The surveys are on our rail and road networks, undertaken on a mixture of days and nights. Based at Stratford and / or Victoria, you would generally be working in teams of two, responsible for fieldwork and processing, delivering to senior staff for final sign off and issue to client. The survey team are an enabler to BIM process in TfL, creating digital data in the form of 3D models, point clouds and tabulated information that projects rely on. The survey team realise the designs through setting out and ‘as built’ surveys feeding back into the ‘asset model’.

It’s important you bring a passion for the TfL Vision and strategy too. That’s because, wherever you join us, you’ll explore work of unparalleled scale, scope and variety across a unique range of projects, as you build your career and expertise. So come and bring on tomorrow, as an Engineer at TfL.
